The quick answer
Old Town is pedestrian. Park just outside the zone and walk in. The city runs official paid parking with clear signs, simple payment, and day tickets that suit visitors. If you want zero hassle, use one of the larger city car parks near the centre, then stroll to Stari Most.
Where to park for Stari Most and the bazaar
These central, city operated car parks are reliable and well signed. They are an easy walk to the bridge.
- Katedrala In front of the Cathedral of Mary Mother of the Church. Good for the west bank and a straightforward walk into Old Town. Typical pricing at this site: day ticket 10 KM. Hourly 1.50 KM during charge hours.
- Federalna Behind the Federal Government building on the main boulevard. Central position. Day ticket 10 KM. Hourly 1.50 KM.
- Đački Behind the former student home on Kralja Tvrtka. Day ticket 10 KM. Hourly 1.50 KM.
- Ćiro Area of the former HIT building near the theatre and government buildings. Day ticket 10 KM. Hourly 1.50 KM.
- Stadion In front of the city stadium. Useful on very busy days or during events. Day ticket 10 KM. Hourly 1.50 KM.
Private lots also operate near Old Town with flat daily prices. Quality, shade and security vary. Read the board at the entrance and ask for a receipt. If unsure, choose the city sites above for transparent pricing.
Street parking zones and prices
Most streets near the centre fall into two city zones. Follow the sign at your exact bay.
- Zone I Higher tariff streets close to the centre. 1.50 KM per hour. Daily ticket 20 KM. Short stay limits can apply on some stretches.
- Zone II Surrounding streets with a lower tariff. 1.00 KM per hour. Daily ticket 15 KM. Longer stays are usually allowed than in Zone I.
If you plan to explore for half a day or more, a day ticket is usually better value than stacking hourly payments and it avoids short stay limits.
When parking is charged
Posted hours apply and change with the season. Always read the sign at your bay.
- Summer schedule from 1 April to 31 October Monday to Friday 07:00 to 21:00 Saturday 07:00 to 15:00
- Tourist streets in peak summer from 1 June to 30 September Charging also runs on weekend days 07:00 to 21:00
- Sundays and public holidays outside those tourist streets Commonly free, subject to the local sign
On very busy days the city may extend controls in specific streets. The sign is the rule.
How to pay for parking
You have three simple options. Keep your proof of payment while you are parked.
- SMS Send your number plate by text message to the city service shown on the sign. Zone I: send to 0838801 Zone II: send to 0838802 You will receive a confirmation text. That message is your proof of payment for inspectors.
- Official app The GoParking mobile app covers city parking. Pay hourly or daily by card and extend from your phone. You can start a session after you park if needed, as long as you are within the grace time shown on the sign.
- Pay machine Many streets and car parks have machines. Choose hourly or daily. Follow the prompts, pay by cash or card where available, and display the ticket if the machine instructs you to do so.
Short stay limits can apply to hourly SMS sessions in busy streets. Zone I is commonly limited to two hours. Zone II often allows up to four hours. Day tickets and the special city car parks listed above avoid those caps.
Malls and covered parking
Mepas Mall offers covered parking. The first hour is typically free, then posted hourly rates apply. It is a simple walk or a short taxi ride to Old Town. This is handy in very hot weather or if you want a guaranteed space for a couple of hours.
Practical tips from locals
- Arrive early in summer to avoid the midday crowd.
- Favour the west bank for simpler access and a pleasant walk to the bridge.
- Do not leave valuables in view. Use the boot and lock the car.
- Read the bay sign for zone, hours and any local restrictions.
- Keep your confirmation text, app receipt or paper ticket until you drive away.
- On peak days, consider Stadion or Ćiro first and walk in. You will often park faster than circling close to the bridge.
Frequent questions
Where is the best place to park for Old Bridge ?
Choose a city car park near the centre such as Katedrala or Federalna. You get a clear day price and a simple walk into the pedestrian zone. It beats circling narrow streets near the bridge.
Can I pay by card ?
Yes. The GoParking app accepts cards. Many machines also take cards. SMS is quick if your phone plan supports local texts.
Is parking free on Sundays ?
Often yes, except for certain tourist streets during peak summer which run weekend charging. The posted sign at your bay is the final word.
Can I park overnight ?
Yes where the sign allows it. If you plan to leave the car, a day ticket in a city car park is good value and avoids short stay limits on on-street bays.
What happens if I find a notice on the windscreen ?
It usually means you overstayed or did not pay. The notice explains how to settle it, often online or at a bank. Handle it promptly to avoid extra fees.
What if I get a parking ticket by post after I leave ?
The city or operator may send a notice based on your plate. Pay it as instructed. If a notice is sent to us as the vehicle owner, we supply your contract details to the authority as the law requires and an admin fee may apply for processing.
Is there dedicated accessible parking ?
Marked bays exist in central areas and at malls. Use your permit and follow the local sign. Enforcement is active near main sights.
Can I bring a campervan into the centre ?
Large vehicles fit best in the larger edge-of-centre car parks such as Stadion or around the theatre and government area. Check the entrance board for height and time limits.
Do I need change for machines ?
Some machines take cards, some take coins only. The app or SMS method avoids the need for change.
Can I leave my car while I go on a day trip ?
Yes if the sign allows long stays. A day ticket at a city car park is the simplest option. Do not leave valuables visible.

The quick answer
You can drive from Mostar to Dubrovnik in about two and a half to three hours in normal traffic. The smoothest route is to cross into Croatia at a major border, join the motorway towards Ploče, then follow signs for the Pelješac Bridge which keeps you inside Croatia all the way to Dubrovnik. Bring passports, your rental agreement and the Green Card we provide for Croatia.
The two main routes that work well
Fast and simple
Mostar to the Bijača or Doljani border, into Croatia, short motorway run towards Ploče, then the Pelješac Bridge and coastal road to Dubrovnik. One international crossing at the start, then you remain in Croatia for the rest of the trip. The bridge removes the old double crossing at Neum and is the least stressful choice in peak season.
Scenic coastal option
Cross at Doljani into Metković, follow the Neretva delta to the coast, then continue on the Adriatic road. Views are lovely, speeds are lower and there can be summer queues near beach towns. Use this if you want a relaxed drive with photo stops.
Tip for families and first timers: choose the fast and simple route.
Documents and insurance you must carry
- Passports for all travellers. EU citizens can use national ID where permitted.
- Full driving licence for each named driver. If your licence is not in Latin script or you have an older paper licence, bring an International Driving Permit.
- Rental agreement in the car.
- Green Card for Croatia. We include it when you book cross border with us. Keep it with the rental papers.
Border officers may ask where you are staying and how long you plan to visit. Answer briefly and keep documents ready.
Step by step for a smooth crossing
- Set your destination to Dubrovnik Old Town or your hotel. Your sat nav will propose both main routes.
- Fill up in or near Mostar so you can skip the first stations after the border if they are busy.
- Approach a major border such as Bijača or Doljani. These crossings are designed for higher volumes and normally run round the clock.
- Join the Croatian motorway towards Ploče. Keep your entry ticket safe and pay by card or cash at the exit plaza.
- Follow signs for the Pelješac Bridge. The bridge keeps you in Croatia and avoids extra border checks.
- Rejoin the coastal road and follow signs for Dubrovnik. Expect slower traffic near resort towns and in the approach to the city.
Best times to travel
- Early morning or late evening is calmest in summer.
- Weekends, holiday eves and late mornings bring queues at borders and beach junctions.
- If you must travel in the middle of the day, add extra time and keep water and snacks in the car.
Tolls, fuel and rest stops
- Bosnia and Herzegovina does not use vignettes. Motorways and main roads in Croatia use toll booths. Take a ticket on entry and pay at exit. Cards are accepted.
- Service areas and fuel stations sit on both sides of the border. Prices can vary. If you plan to return the car in Mostar, keep your final fuel receipt for a full to full handback.
- Public toilets are cleaner at major service areas and shopping centres. Small cash can help at older facilities.
Parking in Dubrovnik
Street space near Old Town is scarce and priced for short stays. The main public garages are the sensible choice. Book a hotel with parking if you can. For a quick visit, use a public garage and walk or take a local taxi to the gate you want.
Safety and common sense
- Keep within the posted limits. Police run mobile checks on the approach to tourist towns.
- Do not leave valuables in view when you stop for photos.
- Use lay-bys or signed viewpoints for stops. Avoid sudden pulls off the main road.
- If an accident happens, take photos, move to a safe spot, call local police if there is any third party damage and call us for guidance.
Frequent questions
Do I need a Green Card to drive from Mostar to Dubrovnik ?
Yes. Your rental must be authorised for Croatia. We provide a Green Card as proof of insurance and place it with your rental agreement.
Is the Pelješac Bridge free to use ?
There is no separate charge to cross the bridge at the time of writing. Standard Croatian motorway and road rules apply on the approach roads.
Which border is better, Bijača or Doljani ?
Both are good. Bijača pairs neatly with the motorway stretch towards Ploče. Doljani is ideal if you prefer to drop onto the coastal road sooner. Pick the one your sat nav suggests for current traffic.
How long is the drive from Mostar to Dubrovnik ?
Plan for two and a half to three hours in normal traffic. Add more time in July and August and on weekend afternoons.
Can I take the car into Montenegro after Dubrovnik ?
Yes with prior approval. Add Montenegro when you book so we can prepare the insurance papers. There is an extra cross border fee for Montenegro.
What if the border is very busy ?
Carry on to the next large crossing rather than using a tiny local post. Major crossings process more cars and usually move faster. Early morning is your best friend in summer.
What if my car has a problem en route ?
Pull over safely. Call us and follow the roadside assistance number in your handover pack. We will guide you to the nearest practical solution.
Can I do a one way to Dubrovnik or Split ?
Yes. Select one way at booking. The fee shows before you confirm. We meet you at an agreed point and close the contract on the spot.
Before you go
Book your car with cross border to Croatia included and travel without last minute paperwork. If you tell us where you are staying in Dubrovnik, we can suggest the best parking option for your plan and the simplest route for your arrival.

The quick answer
Mostar Airport sits south of the city near Ortiješ. After you exit the terminal road, you join the airport road and then the M17 towards the city. You will pass several fuel stations within ten to twenty minutes of driving. Most accept cards. Keep your last receipt if you plan to return full to full.
After you land: first options within minutes
- Leave the airport and follow signs for Mostar.
- The airport road feeds you onto the main route towards town.
- You will reach the first cluster of stations before you hit the busier central streets. These are ideal if you want to top up a small hire car before checking in.
- If you prefer a quieter forecourt, continue a few minutes further towards the larger shopping areas. Access is simpler and turning back onto the main road is easier.
Tip for a smooth start: if you arrive late, head straight to your hotel and refuel the next morning. Stations on the approach to the centre usually open early and close late, and some run around the clock in peak season.
Before you return the car: the easy fill and handback routine
- If you fly out of Mostar, plan your last fuel stop on the way back from town to the airport.
- Use a station on the main approach rather than a tiny back street site. You will get better access and clearer receipts.
- Keep the printed receipt with the time stamp. It helps if traffic pushes your gauge down by a notch on the short drive to the terminal.
- At the airport, follow our handover directions. Show the receipt if asked and you are done.
Hours and payment that travellers ask about
- Most city stations open from early morning to late evening. Some run 24 hours in summer and on travel corridors.
- Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted. Older machines may be chip and PIN only. Contactless is common but not guaranteed.
- Keep a little cash for older pumps or if terminals go offline during storms.
- You pay at the cashier. Self service means you lift the nozzle, fill, then settle the bill inside.
Fuel types explained so you avoid misfuelling
- Petrol is called Eurosuper 95 and Eurosuper 98. Most hire cars use 95.
- Diesel is called Eurodiesel.
- The fuel cap label and the key tag show the correct fuel.
- If you are unsure, ask the attendant before you lift the nozzle.
- Misfuelling is not covered by basic insurance. If it happens, do not start the engine. Call us at once and we will guide you.
Full to full made simple
- We aim to supply airport pickups full. Return full and you will not pay a refuelling charge.
- If your pickup was at a different level, return at the same level you received.
- Use the dashboard range and pump totals as a guide. Topping off a small tank slowly in the last two litres helps you reach the brim without spills.
- Keep your last receipt until your deposit releases.
Common questions
How far is the first fuel stop from Mostar Airport ?
In normal traffic you will reach your first options within ten to twenty minutes of leaving the terminal area.
Do stations near the airport take cards ?
Yes in most cases. Card acceptance is widespread on the approach roads and inside the city. Keep a little cash as a backup in case a terminal goes offline.
Can I buy a car wash before return ?
Yes at many larger sites. Allow extra time if you want a wash. It is optional for our handback. We care more about the correct fuel level than a shine.
Is there LPG near the airport ?
Autogas is available in the wider area, but our fleet is petrol or diesel. Only use the fuel type shown on your cap label and key tag.
What if I cannot find a station that is open late ?
Refuel on the evening before if you have an early flight. If you forget, tell our agent at handover. We can charge a fair refuelling fee and show the calculation on your contract.
Do I need to keep fuel receipts ?
Keep the last receipt until your deposit releases. It is your proof of a full to full return if the gauge looks shy after driving from the pump to the terminal.
Can I prepay fuel and return empty ?
If available, prepay is shown during booking. Most travellers prefer full to full because it is usually cheaper and clearer.
Are there pay at pump machines ?
The region mainly uses pay inside. Some modern sites have pay at pump, but do not rely on it if you are rushing for a flight.
Do stations sell AdBlue ?
Yes at larger sites. If your car needs AdBlue on a long trip, call us first so we can advise the nearest suitable product.
Before you go
Book a car that fits your plan and avoid last minute detours. If you tell us your arrival time and hotel, we can suggest a simple first fill and an easy last stop before handback.

- Driving licence for each named driver
- International Driving Permit if your licence is not in Latin script or is a paper licence
- Rental agreement and the vehicle registration card kept in the glove box

- Minimum age with us is 21 with two full years of driving
- Ages 21 to 24 can rent with a young driver fee
- All drivers must be listed on the contract to be insured
- We accept EU and UK plastic photo licences. If you are unsure, send a photo on WhatsApp and we will confirm before you book
Insurance and your liability
- Third party liability and collision damage waiver are included in the final price
- An excess applies per class. You can reduce your liability to zero with premium cover
- Glass, tyres, keys, underside and interior are not covered under the basic policy. Add-ons are available on request
- If anything happens, make sure everyone is safe, take photos, call the police if a third party is involved, and contact us for guidance
Road rules that matter
- Headlights on day and night. Use dipped beam
- Seat belts are required for everyone
- Mobile phones must be hands free. Do not hold a phone while driving
- Children must use the correct restraint for their size and age. The front seat is not suitable for young children
- Do not drive after drinking. The legal limit is low and checks are frequent, especially on weekends and holidays
- Keep warning triangle, reflective vest and first aid kit in the car. We supply them and check at handover
- Give way at roundabouts unless the sign says otherwise. Follow the lane arrows well in advance in cities
Speed limits and enforcement
Follow posted limits. As a guide, towns are around 50 km per hour, open roads around 80 km per hour, and motorways up to 120 or 130 km per hour depending on the section. Police use both fixed cameras and mobile patrols on the approach to towns, at tunnels and on popular tourist routes.
Winter tyres and equipment
During the legal winter period and whenever conditions require it, cars must have winter equipment. We fit winter tyres in season at no extra cost. Chains are available on request for mountain trips. In bad weather police can stop cars that are not correctly equipped, so plan mountain drives with the forecast in mind.
Tolls, vignettes and fuel
- Bosnia and Herzegovina uses toll booths on motorways. Take a ticket when you enter and pay by card or cash when you exit
- There are no vignettes in Bosnia and Herzegovina
- Petrol is Eurosuper 95 or 98. Diesel is Eurodiesel. Check the fuel cap label and the key tag before you fill
- If misfuelling happens, do not start the engine. Call us from the forecourt and we will guide you
Parking basics
- In Mostar and other cities there are signed zones with hourly or daily prices
- Read the sign at your exact bay for hours and limits
- Use marked bays. Do not park on pavements or across dropped kerbs
- Accessible bays are reserved. Use your permit and follow the posted rules
Police stops and what to expect
Checks are routine. Slow down, stop safely, and wait in the car unless asked to step out. Hand over your licence, rental agreement and passport when requested. Be polite and brief. If you receive a fine, follow the instructions on the notice. If you are unsure, call us and we will explain your options.
Accidents and roadside help
- For minor bumps without third party injury, take photos and move to a safe place
- For any third party damage or injury, call the police to make a report. Insurance normally requires this
- Call or WhatsApp us once you are safe. Your handover pack includes roadside assistance numbers and next steps
- Never accept cash offers at the scene. Use the formal process so your cover applies
Cross border rules
- Croatia is included by default with us. We provide a Green Card and list it on your agreement
- Montenegro and Serbia are available as add-ons. Ask before you book so we can prepare the papers
- Other countries are by approval only. Tell us your plan and we will confirm what is possible
- Border officers may ask where you are staying and for how long. Keep answers simple and have your papers ready
Ferries and mountain roads
- Some ferry routes allow rental cars. You must ask us first
- In mountains, weather changes quickly. Carry warm clothing, water and a phone charger, and refuel earlier than you think you need to
Our fleet rules that keep things simple
- No smoking in any car. Cleaning fees apply if we detect smoke
- Stick to paved roads unless we give written approval for a specific route
- Pets are welcome in carriers. Tell us in advance so we can prepare the car
- Return full to full unless your contract shows a different fuel policy
Long form questions and answers
Do I need an International Driving Permit in Bosnia and Herzegovina ?
Most travellers do not if they hold a plastic EU or UK licence. If your licence is not in Latin script, or you have a paper licence, bring an IDP. If you are unsure, send us a photo of your licence before you book and we will confirm.
Can children sit in the front seat ?
Young children should not sit in the front. Use the correct child seat in the rear and follow the seat maker’s instructions for height and weight. We supply infant, child and booster seats that meet current standards.
Are headlights really required during the day ?
Yes. Keep dipped beam on at all times. It helps other drivers see you in tunnels, on mountain roads and in changing light.
What is the alcohol limit ?
The legal limit is low. The safest approach is not to drink at all if you plan to drive. Checks increase on weekends and during holidays.
What happens if I am caught speeding ?
Police can issue on the spot fines or a notice to pay later. Fines vary by speed over the limit and by the road class. If you receive a notice after you return home, the authority may contact us as the vehicle owner. We are required by law to provide your contract details. An admin fee can apply for processing.
Do I need to carry a reflective vest and triangle ?
Yes. The vest should be worn if you exit the car on the roadside. Place the triangle behind the car if you stop in a live lane or on the hard shoulder. We supply both and check them at handover.
What tyres do I need in winter ?
We fit winter tyres during the legal season and when conditions call for them. If heavy snow is forecast for mountain areas, ask us for chains. Drive gently, allow extra distance, and avoid sudden throttle or braking.
How do I pay tolls in Bosnia and Herzegovina ?
Take a ticket on entry to a tolled section and pay at the exit booth by card or cash. Keep the ticket safe. If you lose it, the operator can charge the maximum distance for that section.
Can I drive to Dubrovnik or Split and return the car there ?
Yes. Select one way during booking. The fee shows before you confirm. We meet you at an agreed point and close the contract on the spot.
What if I damage a wheel or puncture a tyre ?
Pull over safely. Many cars carry a repair kit rather than a spare. Call us and we will advise the fastest solution based on where you are and your cover.
Can I use a dashcam ?
Yes for personal use, but do not mount anything where it blocks your view or touches the airbag area. Always follow local privacy laws when filming.
What should I do at a police checkpoint ?
Slow down, stop where directed, lower your window and wait for instructions. Hand over your papers when asked. Do not offer cash. If you do not understand something, call us and we will help translate.
Before you book
If you want a smooth trip, book with your real travel plan in mind. Tell us your ages, planned borders and whether you prefer automatic or manual. We will set up the correct cover, child seats and any cross border papers so you can simply collect the keys and go.

Top day trips within about ninety minutes
Kravica Waterfalls
Drive time from Mostar is about forty five to sixty minutes. The final approach is on a local road with clear signs. Park in the official car park and follow the path down. Swimming is allowed in season. The water is cold and rocks can be slippery, so water shoes help. Arrive early for calm water and easier parking. A posted entry fee applies and there are simple cafés near the pools.
Blagaj Tekija and the Buna spring
The drive is fifteen to twenty minutes. Park in a signed lot and walk along the river to the house and spring. Dress modestly if you plan to enter the Tekija. Boat rides on the source can run in season. Riverside cafés are handy for a slow lunch. Combine with Počitelj on the same day.
Počitelj old town
Plan thirty to forty minutes each way. Park at the base by the main road or in a small upper lot if space allows. Expect steep stone steps and beautiful views from the tower. Best times are early morning or late afternoon when the stone lanes are cooler.
Međugorje
The sanctuary town sits about thirty to forty minutes away. Parking areas are well signed around the church. Respect quiet hours and local rules. If you plan to climb Apparition Hill, wear firm shoes and carry water.
Stolac and Radimlja necropolis
Allow forty five to sixty minutes. The Radimlja stećci are on a flat site with parking by the gatehouse and a posted entry fee. The Bregava river runs through Stolac with old bridges and shaded spots for a break. You can add the Daorson hilltop ruins if you like short walks.
Hutovo Blato Nature Park
About fifty to seventy minutes depending on the entrance. The wetlands are a haven for birds. Boat trips operate in season. Mosquito repellent helps on still days. Bring binoculars if you have them.
Konjic and Jablanica lake
Head north along the Neretva for one to one and a half hours depending on stops. Konjic has a lovely old bridge and a river promenade. Jablanica is known for lakeside grills and views. Parking is straightforward in both towns. If you want to visit the ARK D–0 bunker near Konjic, request a slot in advance and we will help check times.
Rujište and the Prenj foothills
Forty to sixty minutes into cooler air. Simple marked trails, picnic spots and conifer shade. Storms can build in late afternoons in summer. In winter check road and weather conditions before you go.
Mogorjelo Roman villa near Čapljina
About forty minutes. Flat paths and informative boards make it a relaxed cultural stop. Pair it with Počitelj or Kravica for a full day.
Neum on the Adriatic
About ninety minutes to two hours depending on summer traffic. The route remains inside Bosnia and Herzegovina, so no border crossing is needed if you only visit Neum. Parking near the promenade fills by late morning in July and August. Bring swim gear and plan a long lunch before the return.
Three easy itineraries that work
Water and stone in one day
Blagaj early, Počitelj late morning, Kravica for a swim and lunch, return to Mostar before sunset.
River north loop
Konjic for coffee and the old bridge, lunch by Jablanica lake, scenic stops along the Neretva on the way back.
Quiet nature and heritage
Hutovo Blato in the morning when birds are active, short drive to Stolac for the river walk, finish at Radimlja before returning to Mostar.
Parking, tickets and local manners
- Use official car parks where signed. Keep the ticket until you leave.
- Many rural sites accept cards, but small cash helps at simple entrances.
- Drones are restricted near cultural monuments and crowded areas. Check signs and local rules.
- Dress modestly at religious sites and speak quietly inside.
- Take litter with you. Rural bins can be limited outside towns.
Safety on roads and by the water
- Keep to posted limits. Mobile checks are common near towns.
- Use designated lay bys for photo stops. Avoid sudden pulls into gravel.
- At waterfalls never climb wet rocks or jump from heights. Respect ropes and flags.
- In mountains carry a light jacket even in summer. Weather can change quickly.
Picking the right car for the day
- City plus short hops Economy or compact. Easy to park and light on fuel.
- Mixed roads and family kit Compact estate or small SUV for a bigger boot.
- Mountain gravel or winter trips Small SUV for ground clearance and winter tyres in season. Ask for chains if snow is forecast.
Frequent questions
Can I do Kravica and Počitelj on the same day ?
Yes. Visit Počitelj early, then head to Kravica for a swim before lunch. Both sit on the same side of Mostar, which saves time.
Do I need a Green Card for Neum ?
No if you drive only within Bosnia and Herzegovina to Neum and back. Add Croatia if you plan to continue along the coast outside Neum.
Are there lifeguards at Kravica ?
Supervision increases in peak months, but conditions change. Follow the on site signs and flags and keep children within reach.
Is Blagaj suitable for pushchairs ?
The riverside walk is mostly flat. Paths inside the Tekija are narrow and have steps. A lightweight buggy helps.
Can I visit the bunker near Konjic without a booking ?
Slots are limited and often managed by guided tours. Tell us your date and we will help check availability.
Are card payments accepted at rural sites ?
Often yes at main gates. Carry small cash as a backup in case a terminal is down.
What time should I leave in summer ?
Aim to start early. You will park faster and enjoy cooler hours at Počitelj and Blagaj, and calmer water at Kravica.
Can I swim at Kravica in spring or autumn ?
It depends on water level and rules in place on the day. The water is cold year round. Check the sign on arrival and follow staff direction.
Is the road to Rujište paved ?
Yes to the main spots. Some side tracks are rough. Drive slowly and avoid ruts after heavy rain.

Airport pickups are supplied full whenever possible. Return full for a smooth handback. If you receive the car at a different level, return at the same level shown on your form. Keep your last fuel receipt until your deposit releases.
If you do not see our agent at once
Stay in the public arrivals area and check for your name board. Do not leave the building to search the car park. Call or WhatsApp us. We guide you to the exact spot and send a photo if needed. Most missed meetings happen when travellers step outside and walk past the meeting point, so staying at the exit makes this simple.
Accessibility and families
Travellers with limited mobility
Tell us before you fly and we will meet as close to the exit as the airport rules allow. We can bring the car to the nearest safe point for boarding. Foldable wheelchairs fit in most hatchbacks and estates. If you need a vehicle with a higher seat height, choose a small SUV.
Child seats
We fit infant, child or booster seats that meet current standards. Tell us the age and approximate weight of each child so we prepare the correct seat. We can fit the seats, or you can do it yourself if you prefer. Bring a clean towel if your child may sleep on long transfers.
Bad weather and winter arrivals
In heavy rain move slowly on the polished floor near the exit. In winter we fit the correct tyres for the season. If snow is forecast in the mountains, ask us for chains. We show you how they work at handover if you request them. Drive gently, allow extra distance and avoid sudden steering inputs on cold mornings.
Common questions
What if my flight number changes after I book ?
Send the new flight number on WhatsApp. We update your booking and track the new arrival.
How long does the airport handover take ?
About ten minutes once you meet the agent. It can take a little longer if you add an extra driver or request a route briefing.
Can I collect at the airport and return in the city ?
Yes. Select city return in the booking form. There is no extra fee within city limits.
Can I add an extra driver at the airport ?
Yes. The driver must be present with their licence. We add them to the contract on the spot.
Will the car be inside a multi storey ?
Mostar Airport is compact. The walk to the car is short and simple. The agent guides you.
Do I need cash for anything at pickup ?
No. Card is fine for the deposit. Keep a little cash for tolls and small car parks on your trip.
Can I get a receipt that shows the deposit authorisation ?
Yes. We provide the authorisation slip or a digital confirmation. Your bank statement may show it as a pending hold.
What if my luggage is lost and I must wait at the desk ?
Send us a message. We stay at arrivals. Once you have your luggage, come to the exit and we complete the handover.
Can I smoke while I wait outside ?
The terminal rules apply. Our fleet is smoke free, including at handover. Thank you for keeping the cars fresh for the next family.
What if I arrive with no roaming ?
Use the terminal Wi Fi to send a WhatsApp message or call. Our number is on your confirmation. If Wi Fi is down, look for the name board at the exit and meet the agent.
After you collect the car
Set your first destination while parked. If you are heading to the city centre, read our parking guide so you know where to leave the car. If you are driving straight to Dubrovnik or Split, check that your Green Card is in the pack.
Before you go
Add your flight number to your booking. It lets us track your arrival and meet you on time. If you want a stress free first drive, tell us your hotel and we will suggest the simplest route and a reliable first parking option near Old Town.

The quick answer
Pick small for the city, bigger boots for families, higher seats for comfort on mixed roads, and an automatic if you prefer an easier drive in traffic or on hills. If you plan day trips to waterfalls or mountain villages, a compact estate or small SUV makes life easier. Add child seats and cross border at booking so your papers and kit are ready when you land.
Start with five simple questions
- How many people will travel most of the time
- How many hard suitcases do you need to fit inside the boot
- Do you prefer automatic or manual
- Will you drive only in the city or also take day trips into hills and along the coast
- Do you plan to cross a border or do a one way to the coast
Answer those and the choice is clear nine times out of ten.
Class by class: what each one is good at
Economy
Best for solo travellers or couples with hand luggage. Easy to park in Old Town areas, light on fuel, and simple to thread through narrow streets. Two soft bags and a small hard case will fit under the cover. For Kravica, Blagaj and Počitelj it is enough if you pack light.
Compact
Good for two to four adults with normal luggage. Fits two hard cabin cases and a couple of soft bags in the boot. Stable at motorway speeds to Dubrovnik or Split. Choose automatic if you want a calmer drive on hills and in summer traffic.
Compact estate
The sweet spot for families. Low running costs with a longer boot that swallows a pushchair and two hard cases. Ideal for mixed days that combine towns and beaches. The longer wheelbase makes it a relaxed motorway cruiser.
Small SUV
Higher seating for easier entry and better visibility. Extra ground clearance helps on uneven car parks and rural turn offs. Boots are similar to a compact estate, sometimes a touch shorter but taller. Great for day trips north along the Neretva or into the Prenj foothills.
Seven seat MPV or large SUV
For bigger families or two families in one car. Seats fold to create a flat load bay when you do not need all seven. Book early in peak months as these sell out first. Check the exact luggage space with seats up if you really need all seven on the same day.
Automatic or manual in and around Mostar
Automatic removes clutch work in stop start traffic near Old Town and on busy summer weekends. It is also kind to drivers who are new to mountain roads. Manual gives keen drivers more control on the coastal switchbacks. If in doubt, go automatic. Availability is strong across classes.
Luggage that actually fits
The easiest way to choose is by real luggage, not litres in a brochure.
- Economy Two soft weekend bags and one small hard case under the cover. Anything more sits on a lap.
- Compact Two cabin hard cases plus one or two soft bags. A medium hard case will fit if you drop one rear seat a notch.
- Compact estate Two medium hard cases and a pushchair or three cabin hard cases with room for day packs.
- Small SUV Similar to a compact estate in volume. The opening is taller which helps with square cases.
- Seven seat MPV With all seven up, boot space is limited to soft bags only. With five seats, it becomes a van for family kit.
Tip at pickup: place the largest suitcase into the boot first, wheels to the side, then stack soft bags around it. Keep coats and towels on top so you can reach them at waterfalls and beaches.
What to choose for common Mostar trips
- Old Town stays with tight parking Economy or compact. Short wheelbase helps in older streets and smaller hotel car parks.
- Kravica waterfalls plus Počitelj in one day Compact estate or small SUV. Space for swim kit, water and a cooler. Higher seats make getting in and out easier when you are wet and sandy.
- Dubrovnik or Split day trip Compact or compact estate for fuel economy and motorway comfort. Small SUV if you want the higher driving position.
- Family of four for a week Compact estate. It will take a pushchair and two hard cases without blocking the rear view.
- Two couples with photo gear Compact estate or small SUV. Seats fold to take tripods and a cooler. You will appreciate the extra room when everyone buys gifts.
- Older travellers with limited mobility Small SUV. The seat height reduces the bend and makes entry and exit easier.
Comfort, safety and features that matter here
- Air conditioning is essential in summer Check that the car cools properly during the handover. Tell us at once if anything feels weak.
- CarPlay or Android Auto Connect your phone for maps and music. It keeps your eyes higher than a phone in a vent mount.
- Parking sensors or camera Handy in tight hotel entrances and older side streets.
- Cruise control Useful on the motorway sections towards the coast.
- Tyres and tread We check them at handover. If you plan a long loop day, ask for the tyre photo on file for peace of mind.
- Winter kit In season we fit winter tyres. Chains are available on request for mountain days. We show you the basics at handover if you want a refresher.
Insurance and deposit by class
Clarity helps you pick with confidence.
- Economy Typical excess €1,500, deposit pre authorisation €300.
- Compact Typical excess €1,500, deposit pre authorisation €500.
- SUV and seven seat Typical excess €2,500, deposit pre authorisation €800.
You can reduce liability to zero with premium cover. If you prefer to use a debit card, ask about zero excess options that allow it. We release deposit holds at return and your bank clears the authorisation shortly after.
Cross border and one way choices
If you plan Dubrovnik or Split, add Croatia cross border at booking and your Green Card will be in the pack. For a one way, select the return city in the form and you will see the fee before you confirm. Montenegro or Serbia are available on request. Tell us early so we can prepare the papers.
Two minute checks at pickup
These quick checks save time later.
- Open the boot and place your largest case inside
- Pair your phone to CarPlay or Android Auto while parked
- Set the first destination before you move
- Confirm the fuel policy on your agreement
- Take a quick photo of each corner and the wheels
- Check you have the Green Card if cross border is on your booking
Frequent questions
Is an SUV really necessary for Mostar ?
No for city only plans. Yes if you value a higher seat, easier entry and a bit more clearance for rural car parks and turn offs. A compact estate covers most needs if you do not want the extra height.
Will an economy car cope with hills and motorways ?
Yes. Modern small engines handle local hills and motorway limits. If you plan four adults with luggage or daily motorway runs, step up to a compact.
Automatic cars sell out in summer. What then ?
Book early or hold a compact estate manual as a plan B. If an automatic returns early we can move you across.
How do I choose between a compact estate and a small SUV ?
Pick the estate if you want a longer boot and the lowest running costs. Pick the SUV if you want an easier step in and a taller view.
Can I add roof racks or a bike rack ?
Tell us before you book. Options depend on the exact model on your dates. Many travellers fold a rear seat for sports kit instead.
Is fuel economy very different between classes ?
Economy and compact are the most efficient. Estates add a small penalty. Small SUVs use a little more because of height and weight. Driving style and load make the biggest difference.
What about child seats and ISOFIX ?
Most cars have ISOFIX on the outer rear seats. Tell us ages and approximate weights so we prepare the correct seat type. We can fit the seats for you or you can do it yourself.
Do I need snow chains in winter ?
Not in Mostar city most of the time. For mountain trips in active snowfall or on untreated roads, chains help. Ask us and we will advise based on the forecast and your route.
What if my luggage does not fit at pickup ?
Do not force it. We can usually offer an upgrade on the spot if available. It is easier and cheaper than driving with bags on laps.
Before you book
Tell us your group size, luggage, preferred gearbox and whether you will cross a border. We will point you to the best fit and set up the right cover, deposit and paperwork so you collect the keys and go without surprises.
